Bare Feet.and.Popsicles

Today is the official first day of Summer...woo hoo! My favorite season is finally here!

For some people this is a dreadful season - the heat, the sweat...mainly the heat. But for me this season defines me.  I guess because as a child my best times were in the summer time.  Swim team, long days at the pool, boxes upon boxes of Popsicles, sticking my bare feet in the sand at the ocean, boat rides on the ICW... I could go on and on.  There is something so carefree about the summer and it always triggers memories of my most fun times in life.

Oh, and there is another added plus about today.....it's FRIDAY!!!

It's Friday and the first day of summer...I'd say that calls for a celebration, right? TGIF!

Appreciate.Life

I'm not really sure how this whole blogging thing works...but I'm pretty sure I just jot down whatever I am thinking and it will qualify as a blog, right?  I'm not so sure about that though.  I'm not sure if anyone will ever read this, but if they do, I want it to be something they can enjoy and be inspired by.  So, with that said, here is my first blog!...(I apologize in advance for any incorrect grammar).

I've only lived a few short 24 years of life, but I must say I have learned a lot in those years.  It's funny, life is like a catch-22...when we're young we want to be older, and when we're older we want to be young.  Why is that?  Life is so easy as a child, yet we always long to be older and be able to "make our own decisions" and "create our own destiny." I often think of how lucky I am to live a privileged life, but then I immediately think of all those who don't have the luxuries that I have.  I've learned life isn't about how much money you have, what kind of car you drive, the house you live in or the schools you go to.  Life is about having compassion and empathy for others around you!  Life is about appreciating everything you have that money can't buy - Friends and family.

Most of all, life is about selflessness and humility.  If we were all a little more selfless and a little more humble, this world might be a better place!
